- 6 1/2 cups

About 1 deep 9×13 pan.
How we estimate this
- Adult-equivalents: 8 (children counted at ~0.5× a main portion).
- Main-dish portions assume ziti is the centerpiece of the meal.
- Estimates only — appetites and sides vary. Round up if you'd rather have leftovers.
How the portions are figured
We start from a standard main-dish serving (about 3 oz / 85 g of dry pasta, plus sauce and cheese), count children at roughly half an adult portion, and scale by your chosen appetite level. Side-dish portions are about half a main. These are planning estimates — real appetites vary, so round up if you’d rather have leftovers. For very large gatherings, the crowd-size calculator adds batch and pan planning.
